Sallie Petty was one of the school teachers at Loving. She became sick in February 1917, and her sister, Miss Nettie Petty took charge of her room.

On last Sunday, Miss Sallie Petty died at her home. Graveside services were officiated by Rev. R.E. Boyle. She professed faith in Christ and joined the Presbyterian Church at the age of 12 years. She lived a faitful and devoted Christian life from the tour of her conversion until her Saviour said, "It is enough, come up higher." Besides being an obedient daughter and a loving sister in the home she was a consistent friend and a useful servant to her country. Being an efficient school teacher, she taught a number of successful schools in her home community, and in adjoining communities, during which time she had many lasting impressions for good upon the tender minds of a great host of school children who loved her dearly.

Miss Petty had been sick for 17 weeks. She leaves a heart broken father, mother, sisters and brothers.
