Martin was born in IA and moved with his family to ND at the age of nine; where they homsteaded in Orthell Twp. He was a veteran of WWI; he served in France; Pvt Co E 7th Infantry, ND.
In 1925 he married Alice Holbrook, daughter of Mrs. Alfred Fjeld and the late Fred Holbrook at Plentywood, sheridan Co., MT. Alice was born in Mankato, MN and at the age of two moved to ND with her parents where they homesteaded north of Zahl.
Martin operated a coal mine in Orthell Twp for many years. In 1942 the family moved to Zahl where he operated a beer tavern. In 1948 he took over the Star mail route and drove that until he retired in 1962. In 1965 he moved to Smith's Mill, MN [with son Francis], and in June 1966 became a patient at the Veteran's hospital in St. Cloud, MN. He passed away in Oct of 1968. [Excerpt-Trail of the Pioneers].

St. Cloud, MN--Martin Lewis Page, 71, former Zahl resident, died Friday the Veteran's Hospital in St. Cloud. A funeral service was held today in St. Cloud, and another will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Everson Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Williston. The Rev. Fr. John Pfiefer will officiate and internment will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Martin Lewis Page was born Dec 20, 1896 in Corwith IA. In 1906 he homesteaded in Williams County with his parents. He married Alice Holbrook in 1925. Mr. Page served in the Army during World War l and has resided in MN during the past few years.
Survivors include five sons, Orville, Green Acres, Washington, Francis, Smiths Mills, MN, Arden, Mankato, MN, Ronald, Blue Earth MN, and Robert Spokane, WA; five daughters, Mrs. Melvin [Eileen] Bratlien, Omaha, NE, Mrs. Hazel Mason, Brainerd, MN, Mrs. Joyce Laffon, Mankato, MN, Mrs. Morris [Charlotte] Johngbloedt, New Richland, MN, and Mrs Kenneth [Evelyn] Brown, Mankato, MN; one brother Fred, Venice, CA; two sisters, Mrs. Ida Ball, Venice, CA, and Mrs Russell Allaen, Flint, MI, and 41 grandchildren.
Friends may call at Everson Funeral Home Monday and Tuesday morning.
