Williston, ND--Hazel D. Mason 66, of 5151 Fourth Ave. W., Williston, passed away early Friday morning, Feb 10, 1995, at Mercy Medical Center in Williston. Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday Feb. 13, 1995, at the First Lutheran Church, Willison. The Rev. Dean Larsen will officiate and burial will be in the Hillside Memorial Gardens, Williston.
Hazel Darlene Page was born Jan 21, 1929 near Zahl, to Martin and Alice [ Holbrook] Page. She was raised there and was graduated from Zahl High School in the class of 1946. She attended Minot State Teachers College and began teaching in northwestern Williams County.
In October 1948, she was united in marriage to Norman D. Haug in Williston. They lived and farmed in Round Prairie for eight years until his untimely death in an automobile accident in December 1956. She then moved to St. Clair, Minn., and on July 19, 1958, she married Norman R. Mason in Mankato, MN. That marriage ended in divorce in 1965. She returned to college and graduted with a degree in elementary and special education from Mankato State University in 1965. That same year, she began a 25 year teaching career in Brainerd, MN, where she remained until moving to Williston six years ago.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Greg [Carolyn] Stoner of Ham Lake, MN, and Mrs. Harold [Connie] Reier of Alexandria, MN; two sons, Calvin of williston and Warren of Eden Prairie, MN; six grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Maurice [Charlotte] Jongbloedt of New Richland, MN, Mrs. Ilene Bratlien of Williston, and Joyce Kirkhart of Mankato, MN; four brothers, Orvillie and Ronnie Page, both of Spokane, Washington, Francis Page of Smiths Mill, MN, and Arden Page of Hastings, MN; and a number of nieces and nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son Craig; one sister Evelyn; and one brother, Robert.
She was a member of the First Lutheran Church; a charter member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Zahl; a member of the sons of Norway Lodge in Williston, where she served as treasurer; the Alpha Delta Kappa Teachers Sorority; and the Minnesota Education Association.
Friends may call from 1 until 5 p.m. today at the Everson Funeral Home of Williston and one hour before service time Monday at the church.
