Gladys came to Hood River with her family when her father moved here after he purchased a large fruit orchard in the Pine Grove district of the Hood River Valley.

Growing up in a very close knit family, she was especially close to her younger sister Florence.

She was very talented as she painted, played the piano and did various other crafty type things of the period.

Her second marriage took place in New York, however she took sick and got pneumonia before she had been married a year, resulting in her early death.
