Born in Neillsville, Wisconsin to James Augustus and Imilda Leona (Wendell) Berrian.

Came to Goldendale, Washington as a child in 1873 with her family, via train to San Fransisco, then up coast on ship arriving in the newly being platted town of Goldendale.

The family later moved down along the Columbia, to Columbus, Washington (now Maryhill). It was here she grew up. A first cousin came to help on the family farm as her fathers health began to fail. At least on his part, Lucius Clark immediately fell in love with her. They were married at the Umatilla House in The Dalles in September 1883.

She was a very gifted person, learning to play the organ and was the organist, along with her mother at the Methodist Church in Columbus.

She loved beautiful things and was talented in painting. She loved to entertain and was a gracious hostess. After the death of Lucius she remained on her Hood River farm until her own death.
