The Best Mom and Grandma, Lucile Tucker Taylor, passed away peacefully on July 31, 1995 of natural causes at her home in Provo.

She had been a resident of Provo for 45 years.

Lucile was born in El Paso, Texas on July 25, 1914, to George Traverse and Della Redd Spilsbury Tucker.

She lived in the Mormon Colonies in Chihuahua, Mexico until the age of 11, when she moved with her family to Orem, Utah where she lived on the farm and attended Lincoln High School.

She later met Ray Taylor at Gila Jr. College in Thatcher, Ariz.

They were married on Aug. 23, 1941 in Wasco, Calif., and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

Ray was killed in an airplane accident at the age of 38, in June of 1950.

Prior to her marriage, she worked as a beauty operator for five years in Provo.

Lucile lived in the San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Francisco areas during World War II, while her husband served in the US Navy.

They later moved to Douglas, Arizona, where her husband had his own business.

She moved to Provo in 1950 with her three children, Ray, Linda, and Chris.

She worked at BYU Photo Studios for 21 years until retiring in 1979.

In 1980 she served a mission in New York-Rochester.

She served actively in the LDS Church as MIA president and Relief Society president for many years.

For the last five years, she served in the name extraction program at her local ward.

Lucile is survived by Ray Jr. (Leslie) of Orem; daughters, Linda Sullivan (Craig), and Chris Zollinger (Jake) of Salt Lake City; she had 16 grandchildren and three brothers and one sister: Karl Tucker, Monroe Tucker, Wayne Tucker, and Allison T. Schanz.

She was preceded in death by her two brothers, George and Ray Tucker.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 4, 1995, at noon, at the Provo 9th Ward LDS Chapel, 667 No. 600 East.

Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center Street, Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. or at the ward chapel Friday morning one hour prior to services.

Interment, Provo City Cemetery.
