RETIRED FARMER DIES OF STROKE
Victim of a stroke of paralysis suffered two weeks ago, Ananias R. White [sic], aged 82, well known retired farmer and stockman, died at 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 25, at the home of his son, Harold R. Whyte, of South Cumberland street.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Harold R. Whyte home with Rev. Paul P. Holden, pastor of the Methodist Protestant church of Waynesburg in charge. Interment will be in the Fordyce cemetery, near Bluff.
Mr. Whyte was born March 10, 1850, near Rogersville, and spent most of his life in that community. For the past five years he had made his home with his son, Harold R. Whyte, in Waynesburg. His chief avocation in life was farming and stock raising, but had led a retired life for the past few years. In politics he was a Republican and once served as mercantile appraiser of Greene county.
His wife whose maiden name was Clarinda Fordyce, died in 1907. Mr. Whyte is survived by six children: John, Clyde and Harold R. Whyte, of Waynesburg; Albert Whyte, of Atlanta, Ga.; George S. Whyte, of Rogersville, and Mrs. Artie Headley, of Winterset, Iowa. One sister, Mrs. C. G. Church, of Rogersville, also survive. There are 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
