Elsie Anna Ida Meyer was the daughter of Frederick and Magdalena (Lena) Anna (Heidmann) Meyer. Elsie was born in Saginaw, MI and had two sisters, Mary and Frieda, and one brother named Christian. Elsie attended elementary school in Saginaw, graduating from the eighth grade. Elsie began working in the kitchen of one of Saginaw's lumber families. While working as a kitchen assistant, Elsie met her future husband, Fred W. Stork, a farm boy who was peddling fruits and vegetables from the Stork family farm. Fred courted Elsie while giving her rides home on his horse drawn vegetable wagon. Elsie married Fred W. Stork on September 25, 1905. Elsie and Fred had five children. One of their children, a son, died shortly after birth. The other four children, Dorothy, Ruth, Kathryn, and Fred, were raised in Saginaw, MI. Elsie loved to cook and she was a good cook. Elsie enjoyed entertaining family and friends, loved holidays, and made the holidays special for anyone attending her parties. Elsie loved flowers and had beautiful gardens to share with everyone. Elsie was a devoted wife, Mother, and Grandmother. Elsie's Grandchildren will always remember her as a loving Grandmother who loved spoiling them, and loved having them stay with her at her summer cottage at Killarney Beach on the Saginaw Bay. Grandma was the whistle blower if they went too far out in the Bay, and when they were at Grandma's house, Grandma said "when you are at Grandma's house, Grandma is boss". And she was! Grandma loved to play poker and dance the polka at parties. Big events in the family were July 4th at the cottage and Christmas Day at Grandma and Pa Stork's home in Saginaw. Elsie was an "organizer" and active in the womens groups at her church, St. John's Episcopal Church in Saginaw, MI.
