Bienville Parish lost another pioneer citizen when W.T. Thurmond of Gibsland passed away at the home of his son, J.H. Thurmond in Shreveport last Friday afternoon. The deceased was 83 years of age and his life had been spent in service of others. He was truly a friend to those who needed his help and loved by all who knew him.
Funeral services were conducted at the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery Saturday afternoon by the Rev. J.C. Cox. Mr. Thurmond is survived by his son, J.H. Thurmond of Shreveport; a brother, C.H. Thurmond of [blurred]; and other near relatives.
