Walter Scott Johnson, 84, of Pettigrew, died April 23 in the Huntsville Memorial Hospital.

Born May 9, 1895, at Venus, he was the son of Joseph and Susan Proffit Johnson. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sons, Irvin Johnson of Pettigrew, and James Johnson of Greeley Hills, California; one daughter, Inez Johnson of Catheys Valley, California; one brother, Roscoe Johnson of Pettigrew; one sister, Lula Davis of Houston, Texas; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with Otto Bennett officiating. Burial was in the Witter Cemetery under the direction of Brashears.
