Funeral services for Charles C Morrey, a native of Hurdland, MO who died September 28 at a hospital in Los Angeles, California were held Monday afternoon of last week at the Cypress Park Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles. Burial was in the Forest Lawn Cemetery there.
Mr. Morrey was born in Hurdland on November 23 1881. In 1907 he went to California, where he made his home until his death. He was married to Ursula Yager of Los Angeles in 1913. A son and four daughters were born to them, all of whom survive. Mr. Morrey was a Los Angeles County employee for twenty-five years. He retired three years ago.
He was an active member of the Cypress Park Presbyterian Church, having been church treasurer and a Sunday school teacher for some years. He was also a member of the Eagle Rock Masonic Lodge, the East Gate Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, the American Lodge of Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the Edelwiess Lodge No. 67.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Charles C Morrey Jr; four daughters. Mrs. Lucille Udell, Mrs. Frances Bastien, Mrs. Lois Shilts, and Miss Donna Morrey all of Los Angeles; a brother John D Morrey of Hurdland, MO; five sisters, Mrs. Clara Brown of Shelbina, MO, Mrs. Laura Rouner of Kirksville, MO, Mrs. Margaret Drennan of Epworth, MO, Mrs. Mary Smoot of Bethel, MO, and Mrs. Ruth Corbin of Hannibal, MO, two step-brothers Sidney Weir of Shelbina, MO, and Henry Weir of Palmyra, MO, and a step-sister, Mrs. Nan Minor of Carlsbad, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Ella Chadwick.
