She was born in Watauga County, March 14, 1911, a daughter of the late Hardy and Ella Harmon Ward.

Mrs. Ward was a homemaker and a life long member of Zionhill Baptist Church. She had lived in Watauga County until ill health caused her to move to Winston-Salem in 1987.

She spent her life helping others.

Survivors include one daughter, Lena Ward Presnell; two grandsons, James Dale Presnell and wife, Deborah, and Robert Lee Presnell and wife, Gale, all of Winston-Salem; two sisters, Ethel Ward of Sugar Grove and Annie Oakes of Vilas; one brother, Gilbert Hagaman and wife, Ruby, of Sugar Grove; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Ward; and four brothers, Lawrence Hagaman, Gradon Hagaman, Robert Hagaman, and John Hagaman.

Services were conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Zionhill Baptist Church with the Rev. James D. Hagaman and the Rev. Sonny Hagaman officiating.

Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 1-2 p.m., prior the the service, at the church.

Austin & Barnes Funeral Home is serving the Ward family.
