Lena Mae Ward Presnell, 88, passed away Friday, April 20, 2019. She was born June 6, 1930 in Watauga County to the late Ronald Ward and Rosa Hagaman Ward. Lena was a dedicated member of Northwoods Baptist Church, where she did many things including working at the food bank for several years. She was also a volunteer for the Salvation Army where she was recognized numerous times for her devoted service. Lena is survived by her two sons, James D. (Deborah R.), and Robert L. (Gale); five grandchildren: Chris of Winston-Salem, Joey (Brandi) of Pinnacle, Holly Hedgecock (Bryan) of Stokesdale, Stephen of Oklahoma, and Jennifer Brock (Max) of Westfield. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 24 at Northwoods Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, 2850 New Walkertown Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
