Michael changed the spelling of his last name to McGaughey sometime during his life. At the Blakesburg Cemetery there are two grave markers with Michael D. on them. His older stone has been replaced with a newer one. While the newer stone is at the gravesite, the older had been placed on a concrete slab at the edge of the trees near his grave with several other old markers.
