Samuel McGahey married Abigail Bracken on September 3, 1833 in Putnam County, Indiana. They had eight children, of which 3 are buried in this cemetery.

Samuel G. McGahey was born on March 20, 1805 in Bath Co., Kentucky and died on October 16, 1879 in Floyd Township, Warren Co., Illinois and was buried on October 18, 1879 in the Silent Home Cemetery, Galesburg, Warren Co., Illinois. Samuel was married on September 9, 1833 in Putnam Co., Indiana to Abigail "Abby" "Aby" Bracken (daughter of Matthew Bracken and Nancy Rogers). Abigail was born on November 24, 1815 in Bath Co., Kentucky and died on March 5, 1901 in Floyd Township, Warren Co., Illinois and was buried at the Silent Home Cemetery, Galesburg, Warren Co., Illinois. He was a farmer in Kentucky. Samuels will was dated August 26, 1813, it stated he was going on a campaign and in case he did not return he gave everything to his wife Nancy. On November 1, 1836, Abby sold her share, 1/9 part of 250 acres of Flat Creek, East side, Bath Co., Kentucky. She and her husband were in Putnam Co., Indiana when the land was sold. In a book of marriages of Putnam Co., Indiana in the Greencastle Public Library, it states that they were married on March 9, 1839, which disagrees with what has been said in the past, and until further documentation can be found of March 9, 1839, it will remain as 1933.
