Minnis Ernest Buntin, age 78, of Dawn, died at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Oct. 12, 1992.
He was born in Bogard June 30, 1914, the son of Howard Ernest and Estella Frances Minnis Buntin.
He married Darlene Fay Hughes Feb. 13, 1934, in Chillicothe. She survives of the home.
Mr. Buntin served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1945. The Buntins lived in Ludlow from 1945 until 1955 when they moved to a farm northwest of Chillicothe. They moved to California in 1963 and to Dawn in 1980. Mr. Buntin was a past Boy Scout leader in Ludlow and a member of the Bethel Assembly of God Church. He was a former owner of the Buntin Grocery of Ludlow and a farmer. Also surviving are two sons Carlos Cleo Buntin of Vista, Calif., and Charles Edward Buntin of Tulsa, Okla.; two daughters, Janice Joan Myers of Sherwood, Ore., and Sherry Darlene Haught of Cornelius, Ore.; a sister, Clasline Jacobs of Chillicothe; a brother, William Howard Buntin of Kahoka; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Virgil Claud Buntin, and a sister, Norma Jean McElroy.
Funeral services will be at Lindley Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16. Family visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, at the funeral home. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday and until service time Friday. Burial will be in Monroe Cemetery in Ludlow.
Memorials may be made to the Bethel Assembly of God Church.
