Clastine B. Jacobs, 86, of Chillicothe, Mo., died at Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center in Chula Vista, Calif., on Friday, March 24, 2006. She was born Oct. 5, 1919, the daughter of Howard E. and Estella Minnis Buntin, in Carroll County, Mo. On April 5, 1934 she married Russell V. Howe in Chillicothe, Mo. He preceded her in death on March 3, 1979. On June 4, 1983 she married Norman R. "Dutch" Jacobs in Reno, Nev.; he preceded her in death on April 29, 1996. Clastine was a member of Cornerstone Church, Chillicothe, Mo. She was active in the Cornerstone Church, especially the Vacation Bible School program. Clastine also volunteered in the community with the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (R.S.V.P.) of
Chillicothe by helping to raise funds in the community to erect the Veteran's Monument at the Livingston County Courthouse, working as a volunteer teacher's aide for the Chillicothe R-II School District, volunteering in the Chillicothe Prison Ministry, and always devoted many hours to serving the elderly members in the community. She was also a member of the VFW-Post 858 Auxiliary in Chillicothe, Mo., where she held the office of Conductress for many years. As a member of the Auxiliary, Clastine always helped with Poppy Days, Track and Field Days at the Verelle Peniston State School, and would also fill in and help wherever and whenever there was a need. She was an active and passionate member of the Birthright Organization of Chillicothe. She was well known in the community for her willingness to help anyone in need regardless of who they were or what the need was. Survivors include one daughter, Connie Ciskowski of Imperial Beach, Calif.; two stepsons, Rev. Norman Jacobs and wife Carol, of Columbia, Tenn. and Joey Jacobs of Liberty, Mo.; one brother, William H. Buntin of Kahoka, Mo.,; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-seven greatgrandchildren; and six greatgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; two sons, Robert F. Howe and John Howe; one daughter, Waverly Howe Johnson; one step-son, Donnie Jacobs; one granddaughter, Amanda Ciskowski; two brothers, Virgil Buntin and Minnis Buntin; and one sister, Norma Jean McElroy. Services will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, April 1, 2006, at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo. Family visitation will be from 7-9 p.m., on Friday, March 31, 2006, at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo. Friends may call from noon until 9 p.m. on Friday, March 31, and from 8 a.m. until service time on Saturday, April 1, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rickett Cemetery, Chula, Mo. Memorials may be made to Birthright Organization of Chillicothe, Mo. and left at the funeral home or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, MO 64601.
