Earl G. Gurr, age 90, of Vernal, passed away on Dec.13, 2009. Earl was born on Oct. 3, 1919 in Vernal, to George Albert and Alice Victoria White Gurr.

He married Bula Gillman on April 13, 1937 in Vernal. Marriage was later solemnized on June 29, 1953. Earl enjoyed fishing, hunting, and wood working. Earl worked at the gilsonite mine for over 36 years. He was an active member in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served at the Bonanza branch President for 11 years and other various callings.

Earl is survived by his wife, Bula; sons, Gene (Janet)of Vernal, Reed H of Vernal, and George Allen (Jane) of Roosevelt; daughter, Marlene (Dalvis) Kendall of Rangley; son in-law, Jeb Stuart of Anchorage, Alaska; sisters, Madge Jackson, Vera Gurr, and Lola Peterson.

He is preceded in death by daughters, Ellen Gurr and Linda Gurr Stuart; daughter in-law, Jackie Gurr; great granddaughter, Leslie Hazelbush; and great-great grandson, Jordan Cochrane. Earl has 23 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren and 24 great great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday Dec 17, at 2 p.m. at the Glines 3rd Ward LDS Chapel.

Friends and Family may call Wednesday evening from 6-8 at the mortuary and one hour prior to services at the chapel on Thursday. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park under the direction of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary. Military Honors provided by American Legion Post 124 & 11.
