Mr. Bond was a successful farmer and one of our most influential citizens. For Many years he was a member of the board of directors of the Farmers and Traders Bank and retained this position at the time of his death. He was also a Civil War veteran, a Mason and a member of the local Eastern Star lodge.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, nine children, fourteen grandchildren, two brothers, one sister, Lou Bond, P. Bond and Addie Smith, all of Iberia.

He was converted and united with the Hickory Point Baptist Church in 1862. Later moved his membership to Iberia Baptist Church where he belonged when he died, having lived seventy years a Christian life, being an example to all that know him. He was a good father, a good husband, a good citizen. He will be missed in the home, in the church, and in the community.

He united with the Masonic Lodge about fifty years ago and was faithful to this trust, also he belonged to the Eastern Star, and was faithful to this order.

Impressive funeral services, in charge of C.L. Casey, local funeral director, were conducted by the Rev. Jesse O. Brown of Richland from the Iberia Baptist Church Saturday morning at 10:30. As per request of Mr. Bond some time before he died, Mr. Casey stood at the head of the casket and sang that inspiring hymn, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." At the close of the sermon, the Eastern Star lodge took charge of the services and paid a most befitting tribute to their departed member.

The body was conveyed to the Livingston Cemetery and buried by the side of his first wife, the Iberia Masonic Lodge there having charge of the services.
