Jess is the son and youngest child of John Monroe Provence and Prudy Ann(Dixson)Provence. Jess was married to Effie Bell Roberts in about 1929 in either Texas or Oklahoma. (Effie remarried a few years after Jess's death and she died Aug 19,1987 in Santa Clara County California under her married name of Effie Bell Watson). Jess and Effie had two children together(both daughters) Dorothy Marie (Provence) Lindsey (born Aug 10, 1931 in Wichita County Texas and she died Jan 3, 2007 in Oceanside Ca) and Shirley Ann (Provence) Rebardo (born Sept 4, 1938 in Paducah Texas). Jess was a farm worker all his life. Jess and all his living sisters all moved to the area of Watsonville Ca from the area of Paducah Texas in the late 1930's and early 1940's where they worked on farms.
