Prudy is buried in this cemetery however her grave marker is very small just a concrete marker with her name and it is crumbling and almost gone when I photographed and visited her grave in 2008. Her oldest son William Frazier Provence is also buried in this same cemetery about 20 feet from her grave and he has a large marker. Her husband was John Monroe Provence and he is buried in Paducah Texas. They were married in 1890 and had 9 (nine) children, William Frazier, John Thomas, Jess Monroe, Altha Eunice(Carpenter), Lillie (Loman-Stevens), Gertrude "Gertie"(Sheek) and Minnie Bell(Bedford) Provence.Prudy and John also had two children that died as babies. I believe that these two children were born, died and are buried someplace in Oklahoma but we do not know where. This is based on information that is written in John and Prudies family bible. These kids names were James Bedford Provence, born Dec 17, 1889 and died Aug 23, 1890 and Flora May Provence born March 11, 1894 and died 1897. I have personally tracked down, visited and photographed John and Prudies graves and those of all their children that lived to be adults and had families of their own. I originally placed all of these photographs in Find A Grave but since then they have been copied by many people to other web sites and have sometimes been mislabeled.

Prudy and her husband spent most of their lives in the area of Pushmataha County Oklahoma and then about 1920 moved to the area around Burkburnett Texas. The majority of their children moved on to the area of Phoenix Arizona and Watsonville Calif and worked in the produce/fruit fields. Most of their descendants now live in central and southern California. Prudy's father is William Dixson and he died April 10, 1877 in Parker County Texas. Her mother is Luvisa (Bedford)Dixson and she died about 1915 in Springtown, Parker County Texas. Prudie's mother, Luvisa (Bedford) Dixson parents were Reverend James Bedford and Elizabeth Betsy Hunt.
