In 1867 they traveled to New York on the "City of Cork" steam ship, arriving at Ellis Island on April 30th. Sarah was pregnant on the journey, it must have been a difficult journey for her. They made their way to Ontario Canada, where their son George was born, on July 4th. They had 2 more children while living in Ontario. They moved to Sherman Township, Story county Iowa some time before 1880.
William's father passed away in England in 1881, and his mother, Martha (Scarrow) Cheville, immigrated to America to live with William in Sherman Township during the summer of 1883.
