Hezekiah traveled to Canada the first time at the age of 19 on the SS Nova Scotian in 1866. He visited family members and then he moved to Knox County, Missouri. He is listed in the 1870 Census as single, a farmer living with the Samuel Murphy family.

He made a trip back to England, and returned to Canada in 1872 on the SS Alexandria. Hezekiah married Jane Maria Bowles in Wellington, Ontario on Dec 3, 1874 at the Eramosa Episcopal Methodist Church in Wellington, Ontario.

Hezekiah and Jane raised their family on a farm in Sullivan Township. Myrtle Scarrow Wippler remembered how Hezekiah and her father Josiah Scarrow would sing with great gusto at the Keady Methodist Church and the Baptist Church. They were best friends, neighbors and also first cousins.

One of their children died at 10 months of age of hydrocephalus after a 5 week illness. Henry died in 1882. Another son died of grippe and influenza after 3 days. Alfred died in 1891, also 10 months old.

After Jane died, in 1908, Hezekiah lived with his children. He returned to England for a visit in 1909. His daughter Agnes, and husband Thomas Kingston bought the family farm, and today it is owned by their son Lloyd. Lloyd's son Dennis built a new log home near the front of the property.

Mary Cheville graciously shared this family history.
