Grace C. Doran, 83, of 233 Park Avenue, died Friday, January 11, 2002 at the Oneida Healthcare Center Extended Care Facility following a lengthy illness.
She was born on January 25, 1918 in Constableville, NY the daughter of Fay and Amelia Myers Ackerman.
Grace spent her early years in Constableville, attending the Turin schools. She had lived in the Oneida area for more than 40 years.
She enjoyed bingo and traveling and square dancing with the "Belles and Beaux" of Oneida.
Grace had been a member of St. Joseph's Church in Oneida.
She married Dennis F. Doran, Sr. on August 16, 1940 in Utica, NY.
Surviving besides her husband are: Two (2) sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis, Jr. and Sandra Doran, and William and Mary Doran all of Oneida; one (1) daughter, Sharon Doran of Grand Prairie, TX; One (1) brother and sister-in-law, Fay and Marlene Ackerman, Jr. of Constableville; two (2) sisters, Beverly Bronson of W. Leyden, and Ann Brown of Talcottville; seven (7) grandchildren, John Doran, Shawn Doran, Jill Rockwell, April Perry, Christopher Doran, Sheena Harrington and Kyle Harrington; six (6) great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Grace was pre-deceased by two (2) brothers, Leonard Ackerman and Lincoln Ackerman; and three (3) sisters, Blanche Jones, Jean Stanford and Alair Barron.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2002 at 9:15 a.m. from the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc., Oneida, and 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, Oneida, where a funeral mass will be held. The Rev. William Lorenz will officiate. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Oneida. Friends are invited and may call on Tuesday evening (tomorrow night) from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, 342 Main Street, Oneida.
