Ramona Ann "Mona" Hanson was born Ramona Ann Vap on April 18, 1932, in Beardsley, Kansas, to Joseph Fred and Anna Anastasia (Kacirek) Vap.

On July 30, 1952, she married Vaughn W. "Bill" Hanson in Atwood, Kansas.

Mona was a certified nursing assistant and had worked for the former St. Johns Hospital in the Pediatrics Department for many years. She then worked for the Saline County Health Department and retired in 1995.

Mona enjoyed gardening and donated much of what was produced to the Salina Food Bank. She enjoyed cooking, college basketball, her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Cathedral and the Cathedral Ladies Guild.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Dana Hanson Welch, in 1992. She is survived by her husband, Bill; a son, Terence Joseph "T.J." Hanson; daughters, Kim Fine and Lisa Clincy; brothers, Leo Vap and Gene Vap; sisters, Sister Joseph Ann Vap CSJ, and Gerry Lane; eleven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
