TOM SHUMAKER RITES SUNDAY
---Thomas (Tom) Hays Shumaker, 86, of Rural Route 4, La Plata, died at 10:15 p.m. yesterday at his home after an illness of two weeks.
---Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Goodding Funeral Home in Atlanta with the Rev. John Gorham officiating. Burial will be in Indian Hill Cemetery north of Gifford.
---Mr. Shumaker was born Jan. 28, 1889 in Adair County, the son of Jerome and Emily Miller Shumaker. He married Tina Ella Sallee at Kirksville Oct. 10, 1912, who survives. He lived most of his life in Adair County and was a retired farmer.
---Surviving besides his wife are: three sons, Hollis, Pearl L. and Willis Shumaker, all of La Plata; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two step grandchildren, two step great grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Mabel Miller of Washington, Ia.
---He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
---Visitation will begin Saturday afternoon at the funeral home.
