Funeral Services Are Held At Gifford On Sunday Afternoon
---Funeral services for Jerome Shumaker, 83, who died at his home eight miles west of LaPlata, Friday, February 24, were held Sunday afternoon at the McCollum Funeral Home at Gifford with the Rev. Fred L. Hudson of the LaPlata Community Presbyterian church officiating.
---Burial was made in the Shumaker cemetery. Death followed an illness of two weeks duration.
---Shumaker was born September 4, 1855, the son of John D. and Susan Shumaker. He was married to Emily J. Miller in 1880. He is the father of seven children, two of whom preceded him in death.
---The deceased man is survived by his widow and five children, Mrs. John Daugherty, Mrs. Joe Magers, Mrs. Glen Miller, Tom Shumaker, and Murrell Shumaker, all living in and near La Plata. Eleven grand-children, three great grandchildren, two brothers and one sister also survive.
