Rites Pending
---Murrell Shumaker, 72, of 708 W. Martha died at 8:25 Monday night in a Kirksville hospital, where he had been a patient since Dec. 30.
---Born in southwestern Adair county on Aug. 8, 1902, he was the son of Jerome and Emily Miller Shumaker. In Kirksville on Feb. 26, 1924, he married Delores Zimmerman who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Wilford (Peggy Irene) Long of Moline, Ill.; four grandchildren; one brother, Thomas Shumaker of rural LaPlata; one sister, Mable Miller of Washington, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.
---He was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Jane in 1929; two brothers and two sisters.
---Mr. Shumaker resided on a farm southwest of Kirksville until 1944 when he moved to a farm east of LaPlata. In 1952 he moved to Kirksville and for the past 23 years had been employed by Adair county as a bridge foreman on the road and bridge crew.
---After 7 o'clock this evening the body will be at the Foster Memorial Home. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
