OBITUARY: Appeared in Des Moines Register newspaper 26 Sep. 1990
Kenneth LeRoy Armstrong-Newton, Ia.-Kenneth LeRoy Armstrong, 58, of Newton died of lung cancer Sunday while on board a plane in the Las Vegas, Nev. area. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.
Mr. Armstrong lived in Newton most of his life and was a veteran of the Korean war. He was an over the road truck driver and later retired from the Rock Island and Iowa Interstate railroads.
Among the survivors are his wife, Inez; a daughter, Kay Banner of Iowa Falls; four stepdaughters, Cindy Swisher, Sandy Reynolds, Candy Halferty, and Belinda Bingham, all of Newton; two sisters, Shirley Taylor of Monroe and D. Joan Mathews of Kellogg: two brothers, Bill of Texas and Harold of Missouri; five grandchildren; and nine step-grandchildren.
Friends may call after 8:00 a.m. Thursday at the Funeral Home, where the family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
