Martin was one of six known sons, George Washington, Joseph, Andrew Jackson, Ambrose, Enos, and several unknown daughters born to Rufus and Magarett McIntosh Corey.
1852 Oct 19th Crawford Co PA he married Sarah Ann Berrier Corey. Berrier was certainly an interesting name trying to track. Actually her maiden name was Baugher, the daughter of John and lucinda Fuller Baugher.
To their marriage were born sons; Henry V.,Sylvester Clement, James William, Charles William "Willie", John R., daughters; Isadora and Emma E.
Martin while living in Crawford Co PA was a Farmer/logger.
After Martin's father died 18 Dec 1876 Martin and Sarah moved to SE Nebraska with sons, Sylvester, James, Charles, John R. and daughter, Emma. Sylvester had moved onto Oregon by 1880. Their 1st born son, Henry remained in Crawford Co PA where he married, had four daughters and died 01 Dec 1906. Their daughter, Isadora married 27 Oct 1875 at Sheffield PA to Frank Force. They both have been untraceable.
I can't imagine what Martin must have felt after living in the closeness of the forests of PA when first viewing the abundance of sky in SE Nebraska. I'm sure the reason he moved to Nebraska was because his uncle Benjamin Franklin Corey and family had moved their from Wisconsin in 1870. Ah, the call of the open skies got to him.
While living in Nebraska Martin sold farming implements. And was a well known and respected citizen of Harvard NE.
1902 Nov 28 Martin's wife, Sarah dies. They now rest together under the wide open skies.
