Death Of Winterset Woman Occurred Wednesday at Age of 82 Years
Mrs. Mary E. Kilmer, a resident of Winterset for many years, died at her home here Wednesday, Aug. 19, at the age of 82 years.
Mrs. Kilmer was the former Mary Cellan, daughter of W. J. and Margaret Ann Foglesong Cellan. She was born in Lancaster, Mo., on Feb. 8, 1887, coming to Madison county in early life.
She was married at Dallas Center on April 29, 1907, to Arthur H. Kilmer.
Mrs. Kilmer was a member of the Baptist church at Lucas, Iowa, and was affiliated with the women's societies of that church.
Surviving are her husband; six children, George Kilmer, Alma Kilmer, Mrs. Hazel Clankie, Jesse, Audrey, and Clell Kilmer. She also leaves seven grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Etta Carson of Des Moines, Mrs. Ellen Cunningham of Winterset, and Iona Cellan of Patterson; and a brother, Alex Cellan of St. Charles.
Funeral services were held Sunday from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. John C. Porath of the Winterset Methodist church, and the Rev. Richard Mohr of the Grace Baptist church. Burial was made in the Primitive Baptist cemetery near Winterset.
