Ruth E. Byrd married T.J. Barnett on 4 January 1906 at Crowell, Texas. The couple lived in Crowell, Texas until 1920 when they moved to Young County, Texas. The moved to Electra, Texas in 1925. Mr. Barnett retired in 1951 and the couple had planned to move to California.
Services for Mrs. Ruth Barnett, 62, were held a the Assembly of God church at Graham, Texas officiated by Rev. E.B. Crump of Waxahachie, Texas, assisted by Rev. G.W. Bisher of Electra, Texas, Rev. Bill McCann of Olney, Texas, Rev. V.M. Marcontell of Graham, Texas and Rev. H.H. Wray of Newcastle, Texas.
Mrs. Barnett had been visiting her daughter, Mrs. B.F. Burgess of South Bend, Texas when she became sick and was rushed to the hospital in Olney, Texas.
Mrs. Barnett was born in Tennessee and after the death of her parents in 1903, she moved to Crowell, Texas with an uncle, Dr. Adams. She received her schooling in Tennessee and Crowell, Texas. She became a member of the Assembly of God church in 1923 at a camp meeting at Breckenridge, Texas.
Survived by her husband; three daughters - Mrs. Johnnie Maye Burgess, Mrs. Estelle Vassar and Mrs. Mary Jo Martindale; one son - Rev. Hershel Barnett; one sister - Mrs. Helen Hartman; one half-sister - Mrs. Johnnie Hanley; eight grandchildren.
