HELEN C. SCHUMAKER, 89, LONGTIME OF UNIONTOWN

MOSCOW - Helen C. Schumaker, 89, a longtime Uniontown area homemaker and farmer, died of causes related to age Wednesday morning at Good Samaritan Nursing Home at Moscow.

She was born Feb. 17, 1901, at Uniontown, to George and Anna (Raben) Herboth. She grew up there and attended St. Boniface School.

On Nov. 27, 1919, she married Barthel A. Schumaker at Uniontown. They made their home on a farm there until 1936, when they moved to the Thorncreek area between Genesee and Uniontown. They farmed there until 1965, when they retired and moved to Moscow. Her husband died in March 1968.

She was a member of St. Mary's Parish and Altar Society at Moscow, and the Royal Neighbors, also at Moscow.

Survivors include four sons, Floyd of Bellevue, Wash., Dale of McMinnville, Ore., Herb of Moscow and Don of Kennewick; three daughters, Loyola Stout of Uniontown, Corrine Good of Camarillo, Calif., and JoAnn Gumbar of Phoenix, Ariz.; 33 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren two great-great-grandchildren. Six sisters and two brothers died previously.

Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Moscow. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's, with the Rev. Dennis Wassmuth and the Rev. Robert Waldman as celebrants.

Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Uniontown Catholic Cemetery.

The family suggests any memorials be contributions to Hospice of the Palouse, Box 9461, Moscow or to St. Mary's Catholic Church at Moscow.
Short's Funeral Chapel at Moscow is in charge of arrangements.
