Uniontown Native, B. A. Schumacher, Dies At Moscow

Moscow – Barthel A. Schumacher, 69, a native of Uniontown died at 9 a.m. Monday at his home at Moscow, following a lingering illness. Schumacher, a retired farmer, was born Aug. 15, 1898 at Uniontown and married Helen Herboth there Nov. 27, 1919. She survives him at the home.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus at Moscow.

They lived in the Uniontown area until 1936, then moved to the Thorn Creek area, where he farmed until he retired in 1963, when they moved to Moscow.

Survivors include four sons, Floyd Schumacher, Seattle, Dale Schumacher, Camas, Wash., Herbert Schumacher, Colton, Donald Schumacher, Anchorage, Alaska; Three daughters, Mrs. Eugene (Loyola) Stout, Uniontown, Mrs. Dewey (Corrine) Good, Camarillo, Calif., Mrs. Joseph (Jo Ann) Gumbar, Phoenix, Ariz.

Funeral arrangements are pending with Short's Chapel, Moscow, in charge.

Funeral Mass Celebrated For Barthel Schumacher

Moscow – Requiem mass was celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Moscow, Thursday at 10 a.m. for Barthel A. Schumacher, 70, Moscow who died Monday. The Rev. Fr. Henry Steinhoff was celebrant.

Pallbearers were Jacob Triesch, Fran Kaufmann, Robert Schumacher, and Othmar Kessler.

Honorary pallbearers were Frank Becker, Emil J. Thill, Henry Mengelkamp, Willis Hordemann, Frank Kambitsch, George H. Hattrup, F. W. Handel, Walter J. Wieber, and Richard L. Stout.

Burial was at Uniontown Catholic Cemetery, with Short's Chapel in charge.
