Dale was born Sept. 7, 1930, near Uniontown, to Barthol and Helen (Herboth) Schumacher. He grew up one of seven on the family farm in the Thorncreek area between Uniontown and Moscow. Dale attended Moscow High School.
In May of 1951, he married Mona McVean. They were happily married for 66 years.
Dale graduated from the University of Idaho and became a teacher, moving to Camas, Wash. He later moved the family to International Falls, Minn., before coming to McMinnville, Ore., in 1970.
After years at the chamber, Dale worked for Century 21 before founding Schumacher Shoes.
Dale held many jobs over the years, but his fondest memories were form his time as manager of the Chamber of Commerce in McMinnville.
