Auto Accident Fatal to Mrs. Frank M. Burr
Beloved Woman Laid To Rest In Mt. Olivet Cemetery Tuesday

The funeral of Mrs. Frank M. Burr, who died at Mercy hospital in Dubuque Saturday as the result of injuries suffered in an auto accident near there, was held Tuesday morning at nine o'clock from the home to St. Mary's Catholic church. Requiem mass was read by Rev. Father J. A. Dupont, pastor, and burial followed in Mt. Olivet cemetery.

The mishap that cost the life of this beloved woman occurred shortly before noon on Wednesday, Feb. 7, while she, with her mother, Mrs. Mary Stoeffler, her oldest son Verdus and her sister-in-law, Mrs. Harry Stoeffler, was on her way to Dubuque. The car driven by Verdus struck a patch of ice on the paving near the airport on Highway 55 and got out of control, crashing off the road into a power line pole and injuring Mrs. Burr and the elder Mrs. Stoeffler. The driver and Mrs. Harry Stoeffler were not badly hurt, a severe shaking up and shock being their only injuries. The two seriously injured ladies were taken to Mercy hospital and there it was found that Mrs. Burr had suffered a broken pelvic bone and the other internal injuries and that her mother had two fractured ribs. Members of the family here were summoned to Dubuque at once and for a time hope was held out that Mrs. Burr would recover but her injuries were too severe and at noon on Saturday, Feb. 10, she passed away. Her mother was brought home that afternoon and is now on the road to recovery.

Martha Stoeffler was born in Guttenberg on May 16, 1884, the daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Jacob Stoefller, and lived here entire life, securing her schooling at St. Mary's parochial school. October 19, 1919, she was united in marriage to Frank M. Burr, the ceremony taking place at St. Mary's Church here. Here she raised her family, consisting of two boys, Verdus and Edward, who with her husband survive. She also leaves her mother, Mrs. Mary Stoeffler, two sisters, Mrs. Lena Lake of Luxemburg and Mrs. Frank Fukey of Guttenberg, three brothers, Harry J. and Herman of Guttenberg, and Louis of Libby, Mont.

Mrs. Burr was a most devout Catholic, living her life in conformity with the teachings of her religion. She was a member of St. Ann's society and always took part in every worthy endeavor.

Her passing brings heartfelt sorrow to the members of her family and to her countless friends. The funeral Tuesday was very largely attended. The following acted as pallbearers: Alfred Frommelt, Leo Nigg, Ed Felder, Gregory Junk, Albert Pink and John Adam.

The following from out of town attended the last rites: Mr. and Mrs. Ben Riesselman, Leo and Al Riesselman, Anna Rapp, Herbert Zimmerman, Mrs. Mary Zimmerman, Mrs. Frances Boat, Mrs. Dugan, Mr. and Mrs. Phil Pfiffner and Mrs. Frank Stoeffler of Dubuque; Mr. and Mrs. Andrew and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gerner of Charles City; Mr. and Mrs. John Stoudt of Marble Rock; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Lake and Mr. and Mrs. William Lake of Colesburg; Alfred Lake of Holy Cross; Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Welling and Mr. and Mrs. William Lake and Miss Schiel of Luxemburg; Mr. and Mrs. Forest McKinney and Mrs. Howard Ash of Millville; Mrs. Joe Willman of Elkport; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Burr and Mrs. George Schroeder of Marshfield, Wis., Peter Burr of Stratford, Wis.; Mrs. Hugo Kann and Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Burr of Garnavillo; Frank P.
