"Lewis C. Berry, 96, a resident of Berry Hill in Livermore, died early Monday morning at Sandy River Nursing Home where he was a resident.

He was born Sept. 15, 1897 in Livermore Falls, son of Howard P. and Nettie Richards Berry. He was educated in the Livermore and Livermore Falls school system. He married Erma Norton of Livermore July 20, 1918, in North Livermore. She died April 8, 1984. In 1900 he moved from the Norland farm to Berry Hill where the family started Berry Stock farm. He retired from the farm in 1964. He organized the Livermore Fire Department and was the first fire chief. He was a constable for town of Livermore. He was a Master of Norland Grange, Past President of Maine Pomona Lodge, Past President of the Twin County Extension Association, served as moderator at town meeting for 15 years, served on the school board of 9 years, a life long member of the North Livermore Baptist church, 50-year member of the Oriental Star Lodge AF and AM of Livermore Falls. He was a member of the Maine State House of Representatives. The University of Maine honored him as an outstanding farmer. He voted in every election beginning with Calvin Coolidge. He attributed his long life to "clean living and being a good republican". He was the holder of the "Boston Post Cane".
