Joseph Robinson, sixth child of Peter Robinson, Sr. and second wife Experience Lumbert, b. per the 1925 Robinson Genealogy on Feb. 4, 1706/7 in Tisbury on Martha's Vineyard, Mass. However, his gravestone says he was b. on Feb. 4, 1705/6.

On July 17, 1735 in Windham, Conn., Joseph m. Mehitable Read, dau. of Thomas Read and Rebecca Palmer, b. Aug. 10, 1714 in Windham. Through her mother, Mehitable was the gr. granddau. of the immigrant Walter Palmer of Rehoboth, Mass. and later Stonington, Conn. Mehitable's mother was the 15 year older sister of Elihu, husband of Joseph Robinson's older sister Abigail.

Confirming the interrelated family is the following deed in the Windham, Conn. land records dated Nov. 21, 1735:

• We, Joseph Robinson & Mehetabel his Wife & Ruth Read all of Windham, for twenty six Shillings & Eight pence to us paid by Benjamin ffollet of ye town aforesd Sel to him a Certain Gristmill Land Dam bank & stream in Windham given to us by our Honord grandfather, Jonah Palmer, late of Windham deceased.

Joseph and Mehitable had twelve children recorded in Windham, the last, son Josiah, was b. Feb. 5, 1758 and d. six days later. When wife Mehitable died is not of record. Joseph Robinson died in Windham July 1, 1789 (g.s.), but his death does not appear in the Windham town records.

The children of Joseph Robinson and Mehitable Read, all recorded at Windham, Conn., are:

• i. Deborah Robinson, a twin, b. Mar. 14, 1735/6; m. Nov. 3, 1762 in Plainfield, Conn., Jacob Shepard, s. of Jonas Shepard and Mary Warren, b. Feb. 26, 1738/9 in Plainfield. Three known children of the family.

• ii. Susanna Robinson, twin of Deborah; d. in infancy July 26, 1737.

• iii. Rebecca Robinson, b. Dec. 1, 1737; d. in Windham Nov. 17, 1819, Æ 82. She m. Mar. 11, 1761 in Windham, Conn., Joseph Allen, Jr., s. of Joseph Allen and Rebecca Fuller, b. Apr. 9, 1739 in Windham. He d. at Windham Aug. 28, 1815, Æ 77. Nine known children of the family, who through their paternal gr.mother, Rebecca (Fuller) Allen, are descendants of Mayflower passenger Edward Fuller.

• iv. Mehitable Robinson, b. Nov. 3, 1739; no further record.

• v. Lucy Robinson, b. Mar. 28, 1741, d. in infancy Mar. 16, 1741/2.

• vi. Joseph Robinson, b. Feb. 17, 1742/43; no further record.

• vii. Moses Robinson, b. Dec. 9, 1744; no further record.

• viii. Lucy Robinson, b. Feb. 25, 1746/7; no further record.

• ix. Sarah, twin of William, b. Aug. 24, 1749; m. Jan. 17, 1768 at Windham in the Scotland Society Ch., now in the adjoining town of Scotland, Conn., Daniel Ellis and relocated to Albany County, NY. [In the Barbour printed Connecticut Vital Records, Sarah is called Marah but confirmed by the Windham Town Clerk as Sarah in the original town records.]

• x. Dr. William Robinson, twin of Mariah; m. Nov. 10, 1774 at the Scotland Soc. Chh., then in Windham, Asenath Manning, dau. of Joseph Manning and Phebe Lillie, b. Feb. 22, 1745/6 in Windham. Four known children of the family.

• xi. Prudence Robinson, b. May 25, 1753, d. in Canterbury, Conn. Jan. 17, 1799, Æ 46; m. May 19, 1773 in Canterbury, Conn. as his 1st wife, Jedediah Brewster, s. of Peleg Brewster and Sarah Smith of Duxbury, Mass. and Canterbury, Conn. He was b. June 7, 1742 in Windham, the gr.gr.gr. grandson of Elder William Brewster of the Plymouth Colony and passenger of 1620 passage of the Mayflower to America. Six known children of the family.

• xii. Josiah Robinson, b. Feb. 5, 1758, d. in infancy six days later on Feb. 11, 1758.
