Andrew served in Company I, 10th Alabama Infantry as a Private during the Civil War.

He married Louisa A. Edwards 1 November 1865 in DeKalb County, Alabama. They were the parents of eight known children: Laura J., Fannie Elizabeth, Anna, Ida Virginia, Joseph A., Nora, Grace Lou, and Gordie O.

Andrew came from DeKalb County to Cooke County Texas in 1871. He lived in Gainesville for the rest of his life.

Pioneer Citizen Died

A.J. PATRICK, age 80, one of the highly respected pioneer citizens of Cooke County, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. JERRY HUFFAKER, on Brickyard Ave., Tuesday night, following a long illness. Mr. Patrick was born in DeKalb County, Alabama, February 10, 1844, and came to Cooke County on May 5, 1871. He settled on Fish Creek 15 miles northwest of Gainesville where he resided a number of years. He moved to Gainesville 20 years ago and resided here since that time. He is survived by five daughters, Mesdames JEFF GARRETT, BEN TRUITT, and JERRY HUFFAKER of Gainesville, FRANK TRUITT of Floydada, and IDA WARD of Lindsay, Okla. While in a conversation with a Registrar representative several months ago, Mr. Patrick declared he never sued anyone and was proud he kept his taxes paid. He was a Confederate veteran of the Civil War and was a member of the Joseph E. Johnston Camp, United Confederate Veterans. Funeral services were held at the Huffaker residence Wednesday afternoon with Rev. E. A. WESSON of the Grand Ave. Baptist Church officiating and interment in Fairview cemetery directed by G. J. Carroll.
