A story in the Huntington newspaper in 1903 said that Leander was elected by the city council of Warren, IN as their new Marshall taking over the job vacated by the then Marshall who had to resign due to ill health. Warren is a small town right near Huntington, IN. He had been a deputy for some time before that.
