Julia A. Pursell, daughter of Randall and Nancy J. Purcell, was born in Switzerland County, Indiana, June 24, 1867, and died at her home near Alton, June 14, 1926.
She was married to C. M. C. Kemp, July 23, 1882, and to this union eleven children were born. She became a member of the Baptist church September 25, 1886. She is survived by her husband, seven daughters, Mrs. Marion Harvey, of Alton; Mrs. Taylor McClain, of Tobinsport; Mrs. D. A. Gaither, of Moweaqua, Ill.; Mrs. Albert Bullington and Mrs. John Johnson, of Alton; Mrs. G. O. Coleman, of Cape Sandy; Mrs. H. W. Cox, of Magnolia; three sons, George F. Kemp, of Moweaqua, Ill.; Estell L. Kemp of Cape Sandy, and John R. Kemp, of Alton; forty-five grandchildren, two brothers, W. A. Purcell, of Kosmosdale, Ky., and S. A. Purcell, of Indianapolis; two sisters, Mrs. Marion Esarey, of Indianapolis, and Mrs. John Watson, of Alton, and numerous others relatives and friends. She will be sadly missed by all, but we weep not as those who have no hope but look forward to a happy ? Could not read anymore from paper.
