Iona was daughter of Joseph and Mary Bea (Sparks) Yandell. After her family moved from Scott Co. AR, and she grew to womanhood in Indian Territory. When 18 yrs of age, she met and married on 13 Sep 1906, Ira Barnes, age 21, of Lodi. They lived in the eastern part of the state in their early lives. She was a Free Will Baptist. They had two children, J.D. and Gladys.
She worked hard and was always of a joyful spirit, and enjoyed a good laugh. She loved her family and they loved her. Her daughter cared tenderly for her during her last days.
