Joseph Larkin YANDELL, was the son of Joseph M. and Ann ? YANDELL, one of eleven children. He moved from Tennessee to Scott Co. Arkansas with his family prior to 1860; he was 'drummer boy' in Ark. CSA, with some of his older brothers. He married about 1873 to Mary Bea SPARKS, bn.1851, AR, daughter of William G. SPARKS, and Minerva (Powell) SPARKS. J.L. and Mary Bea had ten children, with six living in adulthood.
They moved to Indian Territory (Okla) to LeFlore Co., after Apr. 1890. Joseph Larkin died at age 49 yrs...and later, his son speculated it probably was either from a brain aneurysm or possibly a heat stroke, as his father came in sick one afternoon with a terrible headache, and died the next day.
J.L. was a deacon in his church, hard-working, kind-hearted, and caring that his children receive an education.
His grave is located near the back of the cemetery, almost directly in line with the gate. He is the only Yandell there as far as we know; [possibly a babe or two w/o stones, are bur. there also?]. His wife never remarried but was buried in North Rock Creek Cemetery, near Red Oak, in 1929 in Latimer County, OK.

(Several of his grand and great-grandchildren searched years for his grave, thinking it was in western Okla. We're so glad the cemetery was canvassed and we found his name in the LeFlore Co cemetery index.) wy
