George W. Gilcrease, 76, died at his home here Monday at 5:20 p.m. following a short illness.

Funeral services were held from the family residence at three p.m. Tuesday. Dr. B. C. Land, pastor of the First Baptist Church, conducted the services. He was assisted by Rev. O. L. Tucker, pastor of the First Methodist Church, and Rev. Alwin Stokes, Presbyterian pastor. Interment was made in the local cemetery.

The deceased was a native of Winn Parish and a member of one of the oldest families in this section. He has lived here for many years and reared a large and useful family. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Surviving are his widow, three sons, Othniel Gilcrease, Bastrop, Prince and John Robert Gilcrease of Winnfield, and four daughters, Mrs. C. M. Bannerman, of Shreveport, Mrs. W. D. Cailleteau, manager of the local Western Union office, Miss Margaret Gilcrease, who teaches at Sikes, La., and Miss Sadie Gilcrease of Winnfield; one sister, Mrs. Mary Susan Jones of Winnfield, and one brother, Will Gilcrease of Montgomery.

Among the out of town relatives and friends attending the funeral here Tuesday were Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Bannerman, Mrs. Desaye Bannerman, Mr. and Mrs. G. E. [illegible], T. N. Gilcrease, and Miss [illegible] Gilcrease, all of Shreveport. Eddie Gilcrease, W. W. Collins and Lt. Walter D. Cailleteau, of Verda; Mr. and Mrs. Will Gilcrease, Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Gilcrease, and George Campbell of Montgomery; Mrs. Evie Williamson and Blanchard Williamson of Jonesboro; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Durham, Mr. and Mrs. Reuel Emmons, Mr. and Mrs. B. A. Tullos, Mrs. J. B. Parker, Mrs. Ava Prince, Misses Elma Pepper, Thalia Hearn, Llydia Thornton, Vernie Underwood, Chlotine Fordham, Opal Prince, Willie Parrish and Messrs. J. B. Holton, Horace Pepper, of Sikes; Capt. W. D. Cailleteau, Mrs Doty, and Mrs. Meyer of Alexandria.
