Arthur Welty Died at Kearney September 13th
Arthur Welty, the son of John Welty and Myrtie Bell Terhune, was born at Arcadia, Nebraska, on November 22, 1902, and departed this life at Kearney, Nebraska on September 13, 1959, at the age of 56 years, 9 months, and 21 days. He attended public schools of Arcadia and grew to manhood in the same community. He was united in marriage to Miss Alberta Jewell at Omaha, Nebraska on October 5, 1927, and to this union were born three daughters and one son.
Mr. Welty moved to Fremont, Nebraska in 1934 where he was engaged in farming. Eight years ago he moved to Kearney where he continued to reside until the time of his death.
He was a member of the First Methodist church of this community. Mr. Welty was a kind, loving, and understanding husband and father – and a grandfather who took great pride in his grandchildren. He believed that to have friends one must be friendly and through his warm friendliness he acquired a large number of friends and acquaintances in the communities where he lived and worked.
He is survived by his wife, Alberta K. Welty; one son, Donald Eugene of Kearney; three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Poggensee of Fremont, Mrs. Norma O'Connor of Kearney, and Mrs. Gloria Thege of Linwood, Nebraska; five brothers, Ed, George, Lee, and Kersey, all of Kearney, and John of Arcadia; six sisters, Miss Blanche Welty, Mrs. Emma Hodge, and Mrs. Charlotte Smith, all of Kearney; Mrs. Virginia Bridges of Forest Grove, Oregon, Mrs. Lillie Bridges of Spring Valley, Minnesota, and Mrs. Lucille Minne of Lincoln, Nebraska; also six grandchildren, and many friends.
