Funeral for John E. Sandlin Sr, 80, of 2824 Hunterwood Drive SE was to be today at 2 p.m. at Brown Service Funeral Home with the Rev. W.J. Johnson and the Rev. Bob Carpenter officiating.
Burial was to be in Decatur City Cemetery.
Mr. Sandlin died Tuesday at Hartselle Medical Center. He was a member of Central Baptist Church for more than 50 years.
He is survived by his wife, Bessie Lucille Compton Sandlin; two sons, John E. Sandlin Jr and Howard Johnson, both of Decatur; two brothers, Marshall W. Sandlin and Edward G. Sandlin, both of Decatur; one sister, Mrs. George Collier of Decatur; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
