She was the daughter of Levi Muncil Cochran and Lydia Cheesman. Her father was a traveling minister in the Midwest and she moved quite a bit growing up. She married William Booth Castle on 31 Mar 1846 in Kenosha Co., Wisconsin. They had 5 children, four of whom lived to adulthood- James William, Louisa, Elizabeth Larabee and Lewis.
