Atlantic Mine -- Mrs. Emily Keranen, 76, a former resident of Atlantic Mine, passed away Tuesday morning in Flint where she had lived for the past eleven years.
Mrs. Keranen was born in Happajarvi, Oulu, Finland and came to the United States at the age of 10, first settling in Trout Creek and most of her life in Atlantic Mine.
Mrs. Keranen was a member of the Apostolic Lutheran Church in Southfield.
Her husband Adam preceded her in death eight years ago.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Paul (Alma) Taylor of FLushing, Mrs. Martha Coponen of South Range and Mrs. Loyal (Anna) Cross of Toledo, Ohio; a son Harold of Carlsbad, N.M.; a step daughter Mrs. Emil (Jennie) Karppinen of Trimountain; three step-sons, George of Phoenix, Ariz., Henry of Mass and Mattie of Flint; 17 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Atlantic Mine Apostolic Lutheran Church, the Rev. Andrew Mickelsen to officiate. Interment will be in Lakeside Receiving Vault with a spring burial in Atlantic Mine Cemetery.
The body will be brought to the church at 12 noon, Saturday, from the Jukuri Funeral Home where friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday.
