Mrs. Virginia Coombs Udy, 60, of Fielding, died Thursday, June 14, 1979, at the Brigham City Hospital of heart failure.
Mrs. Udy was born Nov. 29, 1918, in Fielding, a daughter of Frederick T. and Theresa Jane Sunderland Coombs.
She was married to Melvin LeRon Udy on Oct. 18, 1940, in Billings, Mont The marriage was—solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on April 23, 1964.
She was a-graduate of Bear River High School and graduated from Utah State University in 1940.
She had been a teacher in Davis County, Weber County and Box Elder County schools. She moved to Fielding in July of 1967.
She was a member of the National Retired Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She was a member of the Belmont LDS Ward and was Relief Society homemaking teacher and visiting teacher. She had formerly served as a Sunday School teacher, member of the ward choir and YWMIA secretary.
Surviving are her husband of Fielding; one daughter, Mrs. Marvin. L. (Karen) Hansen, Men-don, Utah; five grandchildren; her father of Fielding.
Also surviving are two brothers and one sister, Arden E. Coombs, Ogden; Virgil M. Coombs, Fielding; Mrs. Earl (Lyla) Weese, Everett, Wash.
Funeral services were conducted Monday in the Belmont Ward Chapel with Bishop R. Winn Zundel officiating. Burial was in the Plymouth Cemetery.
