Samuel Weldon Brient Thompson was the son of Elijah E Thompson and Louisa M Lee. Weldon, as he was known, was born on the family farm in Stone County, Missouri, and he lived there all his life. His name Samuel came from his paternal great-grandfather, Samuel Blackburn, and Brient came from his mother's brother-in-law, Solomon Brient. Weldon died of typhoid fever. He was buried in the old part of Marionville Cemetery, but his grave is unmarked. (This information was given to me by my grandmother on one occasion when were looking for his grave at the cemetery. She was unable to remember the grave's location due to changes in the landscape.) Sheldon, his twin brother, died as an infant.
